I’m getting ready to go to sleep, but I decide to scroll through my Tumblr a bit and see what’s posted. There’s a libertarian individual I sometimes talk to on Tumblr, and checked out her page. Though I don’t typically agree with her (or her love of Ann Coulter), she’s typically a very reasonable individual. Unfortunately, I found this image posted on her Tumblr, and went into a rage after reading the first part, and even more so at the bottom part:
I went off on a little rage filled tangent regarding this. There’s no doubt about it that this is very much anti-Islamic, pro-Christian propaganda. The sad thing is, that the person that originally made this is clearly vastly uneducated about the Islamic faith. They probably got their information from Fox News or some extremist individual or blog, spouting ignorance and hateful rhetoric about Islam. Now I’m not going to sit here and say that this religion is perfect. Quite frankly, I have an issue with nearly every religion. However, to pretend that Islam is actively violent towards everyone is foolish. There are over a billion Muslims in the world, if they all hated us, I wouldn’t be typing out this blog right now.
People need to get over their blatant and pathetic Islamophobia, and get on with their lives. But I will point out a couple of things, for those of you that wish to put anything in my comment box something ignorant or outright stupid. ”They are all evil!” ”They hate America!” ”All Muslims are clearly the same!” ”9/11!”
First off, if you actually spoke to a Muslim, you’d understand that their religion *is* about peace, but not pacifism. Even Christianity doesn’t teach outright pacifism. I have spoken to many a Muslim, and they have said the same thing in regards to war and violence. Essentially, one cannot kill women or children in war, as that is a sin against G-d. Pretty straightforward, right? It gets even more complicated. Muslims are not allowed to cause damage to G-d’s creation. This would mean that nukes are a sin against G-d. In fact, 9/11 itself would be a sin against G-d. According to Islam, they sinned by killing children, women, and non-combatants. Further, the destruction of the planes caused damage to G-d’s creation. But please, read more about this here.
My favorite, of course, is suggesting that this coexist sticker is directed entirely at Christians, who are “no threat” to the others presented within the sticker. Really now? Really? Christians present absolutely NO threat to anyone? They are just docile, fragile individuals seeking to spread peace and love? I would beg to differ. Shall I go on?
Ku Klux Klan, anyone?
So spare me this, “Christians are peaceful” garbage. I could keep adding links. We don’t need to get started on Christian violence against gays, do we? Sure, you can also link violence against Christians by atheists, Muslims, and so forth. However, the fact is, Christians have the capability to be violent in the name of their religion as well. You can tell me that all those individuals that committed those atrocious acts are “not real Christians”, but I showed you proof that Muslim terrorists, according to the Quran, are not following the tenants of Islam.
The saddest thing, however, is the complete and total ignoring of what this means. This isn’t directed at Christians, but the entire world. It’s asking everyone to just shut up and coexist. Pagans are intolerant towards Christians, some with good reason. However, it’s asking even those pagans to just tolerate Christian existence. This sticker isn’t saying, “hey, Muslim terrorists, it’s cool you blow people up. But Christians, you really need to be nice!” If you perceive that as the message of this sticker, you’re doing it wrong.

*applause*
Asalamoalikum Toni
Thank you very much for making defending what is correct. The interesting thing is when we as Muslims greet each other we say “asalamoalikum” meaning “may PEACE be upon you”. And we being saying that from the start, because we were instructed, that is how the Adam greeted the Angels the first time. Greeting of peace, yet that is the thing people seem to think we want to jeopardize.
Although I didn’t take time to read each of the ” I would beg to differ. Shall I go on?” I commend you on your effort. Also adding the more recent “LRA(Lord’s resistance army) aka KONY2012″.
Ignore the grammar above, Year 2012 I still don’t do proofread or spellcheck

I have a problem with ISLAM not muslims in general and I haven’t gotten my knowledge from Fox (though I am watching The Five at the moment and do watch Fox News on occasion). I have also not gotten my information from talking to Muslims and asking their opinion on their religion (which will never amount to anything other than a biased opinion, just as asking a Christian about their religion will give a biased concept of the religion).
Instead I have listened to what the Imams around the world have to say. I have listened to the Muslim Brotherhood. I have read the Koran and (while I don’t necessarily agree with the comment that the sticker above is attacking Christianity, that would be a bit overdramatic) I do agree with the other ideas they editor placed there.
Islam, at it’s core, is NOT about peace and love. Have you ever read the Koran, read the prayers that Islamic people say, seen the mistreatment of gays and women in Islamic countries?
You must be unable to read or understand history. Do you think that the mistreatment of women here in the United States comes from Christianity? I can very easily point to secularism for that. In fact, until 1985 it was *not* a crime for a man to beat the hell out of his wife here in the United States. Wrap that around your head. Men used to be able to beat their wives. We used to keep slaves, people, and treated them as if they were not human. We don’t allow gays to get married. Now there are over a billion (1,000,000,000) Muslims in the world. They are not all about hate and violence, as they aren’t all at war with us.
Christianity has its flaws and laws permitting the death of individuals. It’s all about personal interpretation. Did you press the links I wrote? Are you unfamiliar with the KKK?
Try again.
